Kalki 2 Finally Has a Real Clock: Nag Ashwin Says Regular Shooting Starts Next Month
Nag Ashwin says regular shooting on Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 will begin in October 2026, with the director hoping to finish filming by mid-2027.

Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 has spent two years existing somewhere between cliffhanger and promise. On Wednesday, Nag Ashwin finally put a concrete production clock on it: regular shooting begins in October, and he hopes filming will be finished by the middle of 2027.
“We're starting the shoot regularly from next month and, hopefully, it should be done with the shoot by mid next year,” Ashwin told India Today. That is deliberately narrower than a release-date announcement: he gave a production timeline, not a date for the movie to reach theatres.
The distinction matters because work on the sequel did not begin from zero. Earlier reporting had already described a limited amount of filming, while the larger schedule remained dependent on bringing the principal cast together. October therefore marks the beginning of the regular production phase, not necessarily the first frame ever shot for Part 2.
There is still no responsible theatrical date to put on a countdown. But Kalki 2 now has something more useful than another round of release speculation: October 2026 for the regular shoot, and mid-2027 as Nag Ashwin's hoped-for filming finish.
